Sunday Soup

Good Sunday Evening,

 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Tomorrow!

Please plan to join us tomorrow after school, as we commence a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in partnership with the Cheboygan Chamber of Commerce.  The back door of the gym, C5, will be open to the public at 3:05.  Please head straight up the back stairs to the FC and take a few minutes to walk around the new FC.  At 3:15, we will cut the Ribbon.  At 3:30, we will adjourn the meeting and exit the HS.  I hope you come and see for yourself how wonderful a teaching area this for our children's health, fitness, and mental well-being.  As many of you already know, physical exercise is good for the body, but it is also great for the mind.  This has been well documented in Medical Research:   https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1470658/#:~:text=Exercise%20improves%20mental%20health%20by,self%2Desteem%20and%20cognitive%20function.

Book Study Opportunity – There will be a voluntary meeting on Wednesday at 3:15 in the HS auditorium for those interested in the next book study.  I will answer any questions you may have about the study before anyone is asked to fully commit to the process.  The book will be “Drive” by Pink, a book that takes a deep dive into the psychological understanding behind Student Motivation.

Fitness Center – I did it!  I worked out twice in the morning last week from 6am to 7am in the new Fitness Center.  I have to brag that after working out in our gym last week, I do believe it is one of the best, if not the best, in Northern Michigan.  I have had several folks rave about the FC and I heard Jason Friday say last week, “Our Fitness Center is a 10 out of 10!” So, my New Year's Resolution goal of exercising on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for the month of February was a success this past week.  I have 8 more workouts to complete this month to reach my goal.  I believe as educators is important and powerful to model the expectations we have for our students.  Hope to see you there!  Go Chiefs!
